Молодой полицейский Джек Дрисколл возвращается из Дублина домой, в малонаселенную ирландскую глубинку, чтобы сменить своего отца, ушедшего на пенсию. Голые поля, горы, озера, море и совсем немного чахлой растительности. Народу не много, все подозрительны и малообщительны. Все всех знают и Джерард Дрисколл - настоящий хозяин здешних мест. Постепенно Джек начинает осознавать, что его отец частенько вершил правосудие так, как считал нужным, и не всегда это совпадало с буквой закона. Напряжение между ними нарастает, раскрываются все более неприглядные подробности.
Первое дело Джека - убийство молодой девушки, иммигрантки с балкан. Никто не хочет разбираться с этим и тревожить местных уважаемых жителей. Отец даже пытается с помощью друзей из полицейского руководства сдержать излишнее рвение сына в расследовании.
Во втором сезоне Джек ищет пропавшего двухлетнего малыша. Родители - безработные студенты, вдобавок наркоманы. У мамы ребенка решительно настроенные полукриминальные братья, а у папы - состоятельная семья, не желающая мириться с такой невесткой.
Джерарда Дрисколла допрашивает трибунал за все его "хорошие" дела. Мать Джека не желает знать ничего о безнравственности своего мужа, а сына считает чуть ли не дурачком.
Голливудский сюжет, но ирландское исполнение. Коррупция и тихие преступления на фоне мрачных красот побережья.
